Reality Therapy is not simply a counseling method—its application is far broader than that. I think of Reality Therapy as a goal setting/problem solving process that is applicable in all situations in our lives. I use the process with myself when I am attempting to figure out a problem or accomplish something that seems to be eluding me. I use it to help my children make better decisions by asking them questions about what they want and if their current behavior is likely to lead them in that direction. I use it to help my friends in the same way. It is a process that improves the counseling relationship. It is a great tool for teachers to use with students. Reality Therapy is the perfect model for the coaching relationship. It is a wonderful tool for you to learn and have in your arsenal for everyday living.
