There are three conditions that must be in place in a classroom to facilitate quality work. They are:
- A need-satisfying environment
- An explanation and understanding of how what is being learned can be applied to the students’ lives.
- And self-evaluation. Students must be asked to evaluate their own work against the rubric that was created jointly with the class and the teacher. Of course, in certain areas teachers must make the final assessment of whether or not competent work was actually done but students need to self-evaluate their work as often as possible.
